As you may be aware, all modern Macs offer full-disk encryption, which Apple refers to as FileVault. In short, FileVault encrypts the Mac’s startup disk and ensures that all files, folders, and system data are unreadable gibberish without a user login password or recovery key, protecting your data from unauthorized access if the device is lost or stolen.
While full-disk encryption has been employed at WA+U for many years, we are now using a more robust, MDM-assigned approach that uses configuration profiles that cannot be removed, among other benefits.
As such, the next time you log into your computer, you might be greeted with the following prompt:
When prompted, please choose Enable Now. The encryption process typically takes a few seconds or, in some cases, a minute or two.
